When your puppy enters a home that already has an established dog, first meetings can be crucial. It is imperative that you carefully supervise these meetings.
When introducing puppies to older dogs, have the older dog sniff the puppy when he is sleeping to allow the older dog to investigate and accept the puppy on his own terms.
When both puppy and dog are awake, allow them to meet each other in a well-supervised setting. Either place the puppy in his crate before introducing them or place them in separate rooms with a child/pet gate in the doorway to keep them separate when they first meet.
